Conflict Resolution

Learn how to identify and resolve conflicts between mods using xEdit's powerful conflict detection system.

Understanding Conflicts

Conflicts occur when multiple mods modify the same record. xEdit uses color coding to show conflicts:

  • Green: No conflicts
  • Yellow: Override conflict
  • Red: Direct conflict

Identifying Conflicts

  1. Load all your mods in xEdit
  2. Look for red and yellow records
  3. Check the right panel for conflict details
  4. Use the "Apply Filter" to show only conflicts

Resolving Conflicts

  1. Right-click on conflicting records
  2. Choose "Copy as Override" to create a patch
  3. Manually edit the conflicting values
  4. Save your patch as a new plugin

Best Practices

  • Always create patches instead of editing original mods
  • Test your patches thoroughly
  • Keep patches at the end of your load order
  • Document what your patches do
